Get Rich Quick with Social MediaPR 2.0
Internet marketing get-rich-quick schemes are now apart of daily television. They air right after the infomercials for get-rich-quick real estate plans. Poking fun at the scheme, my favorite line by Brian Solis, Principal of FutureWorks, an award-winning PR agency in Silicon Valley, is, “Sign me up. I have dreams too and after all these years, I could have been living “the life.”

Pretty amazing interview with what appeared to be a random and well-educated Obama supporter.

Website Design Freedom Benefits

It has been nearly a month since I last blogged. A lot of things have kept me busy during that time, including starting a new marketing job, as well as creating a new web site for a Minneapolis home remodeling company, Ark Construction, Inc.

This was my first time creating a web site from stratch. I had previous experience in design, which allowed me to create sites on existing platforms like Ning, WordPress and Blogger. However, this was first time I felt like I was in total control.

A few benefits of creating the site on my own include:

  • The ability to create an xml site map, allowing me to let Google and Yahoo! know which pages on the site are of the greatest importance.
  • The ability to hook up the site with Google Analytics. This allows the client to view the site statistics in real time. They can also use it in the future if they are interested in buying keywords.
  • No more extra source code baggage, which comes with creating a site on another platform.
  • The ability to customize the meta keywords and description on each page.
Now, by no means am I done working on the site. It takes a fair amount of time and maintenance to build links and search engine rankings.

The NCAA Hockey Fighting Policy is a Joke

Before you go on any further, please watch this video of the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux versus the University of Minnesota Gophers hockey game.

The video you just watched took place last Saturday night in Minneapolis when the UND Fighting Sioux took on the Minnesota Gophers in men’s hockey.

It may not have seemed very bad, but I am disgusted that only two players, one from each team, received a one game suspension.

In particular, I think it is ridiculous that UND player Joe Finley, who pulled out a Minnesota player with the intent to provoke a fight during the post-game hand shake, will be allowed to play in the Sioux’s next hockey game.

All of that mess and just one player on each team will miss one game. What a joke!

Think if Al Nolen, an African-American basketball player at Minnesota, would have tried to start a fight with a Wisconsin basketball player following their game at Williams arena. Talk would have been about kicking him off the team for good. Poeple would have called him a thug and a menace.

The NCAA did not hand out harsh enough punishments to the players associated with this fight. It shows a clear double standard that exists in hockey and fighting will continue in the sport, as long as the NCAA turns their blind eye.

As a former college athlete, I am sickened that these guys did not realize that they represent a lot of more than just the name on the back of their jersey.
