Queen Bees Helps Mean Girls

Queen Bees from "The N"

Queen Bees from "The N"

A new television show on The N called Queen Bees is aimed at helping some of the most self-indulged, self-entitled divas change back into good girls.

The show premiered today – check out the first ten minutes. Their claims to fame are quite hilarious. I think we all know plenty of girls like this and its true we all hate these queen bees. Hopefully by placing the girls in the same place they’ll realize how much they dislike people who act just like themselves.

I think the favorite part of the introduction was the fact that most of these girls didn’t even know why they were on a show. They all just volunteered to be on a reality show because they wanted the attention.

The only thing I thought could have been improved was if the girls didn’t know right away that the goal was to be nice. We could have really seen their true colors and it could have had a great moments like the reality show Average Joe, where the guy had no idea that everyone on the show with him was actually an actor.

On a nerdy note - The video masher tool on their website is awesome. Users can mash together clips from the show, add music and graphics and enter it into a contest. It is a pretty sweet tool.

Shaquille O’Neal vs. Kobe Bryant Part II: Shaq’s Rap

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal. Specifically how Kobe Bryant had the opportunity to make his mark on history as quite possibly the best player of all-time, ahead of Michael Jordan. And to do that, of course we would have needed to win the NBA Finals without the help of Shaquille O’Neal.

Fast forward to two weeks later, Kobe and the Lakers were handled by the Boston Celtics and the big three, and Shaq must have heard of or read a couple blogs like mine because Shaq went off on Kobe in a rap. I must admit that it is funny, but at the same time - “Come on dawg.” Shaq must have know he crossed the line with some racial stuff, with some comments about how part of his body tastes. But I guess, if Kobe really did cause his divorse, then…what can I say.

Viral Videos of the Week – RSS; Gangster Kids; and Barack Obama

Each week I am going to try and post the top viral videos of the week. As a professional marketer, communicator and media junkie, I think it is important to watch these and see what people are viewing, passing along and enjoying.

Video: RSS in Plain English
Earlier this year I predicted 2008 to be the year RSS goes mainstream and it looks like the people at CommonCraft agreed with me or I agreed with them – I’m not sure. Either way this is another wonderful video by the people at CommonCraft.

7-year-old Gangster Goes on a Joyride
While this is very much disturbing, I was still laughing about a miunte in when the 7-year-old gangster explains why he went on a little joyride.

Barack Obama Denounces Rev. Wright
Barack is my guy and his speech about race was spot on, but this was long overdue.

Instant Messaging Service: Next Step in Social Network Evolution

Facebook LogoFeatures and functionality on social networks are evolving right before our eyes. Just a few days ago, AOL purchased Bebo. The purchase was made to combine AOL’s instant messaging service (AIM) with the social networking services of Bebo.

It seems like a nice marriage. I remember when I began college in 2001, everyone I knew in the dorms has AIM. I imagine that what AIM was to my friends and I, what Facebook is to today’s crop of college students.

And interestingly enough Michael Arrington of TechCrunch announced that Facebook will be adding instant messaging sometime next week; Pretty much nullifying the exciting news that AOL purchased Bebo.

MySpace also has an instant messaging service through Skype. For a while they had an instant messaging service created by MySpace developers, that if I remember correctly was full of bugs and never took off.

I’ll be watching to see how instant messaging effects Bebo, Facebook and other social networks.
